Professional. Mobile. Trusted.
"AdBlue system fault", "emissions fault — see dealer", "engine will not restart in X miles": every manufacturer words it differently, and none of them tell you what has actually broken. Behind that one message sits a NOx sensor, a dosing pump, an injector, a tank module, a wiring fault or a software issue. Guessing is expensive — a sensor gets fitted, the light comes back, and the countdown carries on. We attend with dealer-grade equipment, read live data on the vehicle, and tell you which of them it is before anything is ordered.
- Stored, pending and permanent fault codes across engine, SCR and gateway modules
- Live upstream/downstream NOx comparison through a real drive cycle
- Dosing pressure, delivery and injector spray testing
- Tank module, level sender and heater-circuit checks
- AdBlue fluid quality and contamination testing
- Wiring, connector and earth inspection at every SCR component
- Mobile diagnostic visit from £150 — parts and repair quoted separately once diagnosed
- Counter reset only as part of a completed repair, never on its own
What is actually behind the warning
Six causes, in roughly the order we find them. Follow the link for the one that matches your symptoms — or send us the registration and we will tell you which is most likely on your model.
NOx sensor out of range
The most frequent single cause. The ECU compares upstream and downstream readings to decide whether the SCR catalyst is working — one bad reading and the whole system is declared faulty.
NOx sensor faultsDosing pump or pressure fault
Fluid is in the tank but not reaching the catalyst at the right pressure. Blocked filters, restricted lines and failed pumps all present as an AdBlue warning with a full tank.
AdBlue pump faultsBlocked or crystallised injector
White crusty urea deposits at the injector, dosing-deviation codes, and a countdown that keeps running after a top-up.
AdBlue injector faultsTank module, level sender or heater
Tank reads empty when full, level never moves, or the system faults only in cold weather — usually the tank module or a heater circuit rather than the SCR side.
AdBlue repair hubWiring, connectors and earths
Corroded tank-module plugs and chafed looms under the vehicle are common on vans and salted-road cars. Cheap to fix, frequently misdiagnosed as a failed sensor.
ECU fault diagnosisSoftware, calibration or a counter that was reset
Some faults are known manufacturer software issues. And if someone reset the countdown without repairing anything, the ECU simply re-arms it on the next drive cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an AdBlue system fault actually mean?+
It means the ECU has decided the SCR emissions system is not reducing NOx the way it should. That single message covers at least six very different underlying faults — sensor, dosing pump, injector, tank module, wiring or software. The dash cannot tell you which; only reading live data on the vehicle can.
Will topping up AdBlue clear the fault?+
Only if the tank was genuinely low. If the warning appears with a full tank, or returns shortly after a top-up, the fluid was never the problem and the fault will keep coming back until the actual cause is repaired.
How long before the car will not start?+
Most manufacturers give a countdown of a few hundred to a couple of thousand miles once a genuine fault is logged. When it reaches zero the engine will not restart and the vehicle usually needs recovering — which is why booking at the warning-light stage is far cheaper than booking at the countdown stage.
Can the countdown just be reset?+
We do not reset counters without repairing the cause. It re-arms within a drive cycle or two, and the customer ends up paying twice. Repair first, then reset with the correct dealer-level procedure as part of the same job.
How much does AdBlue system fault diagnosis cost?+
The mobile diagnostic visit starts at the £150 minimum service charge. That covers the full diagnosis — stored, pending and permanent codes, live NOx and dosing data, pressure and delivery testing, fluid quality, wiring and heater circuits — plus a written finding. Parts and repair labour are quoted separately once we know what has failed, and nothing is ordered until you approve the price.
Do you delete AdBlue systems instead?+
Not on road-going vehicles. Our AdBlue work is repair and diagnostics so the car or van stays MOT-compliant and road-legal.
Do you come to me?+
Yes — fully mobile across Staines, Heathrow, Slough, Windsor, Hounslow, West London, Uxbridge, Woking, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Reading. Home, workplace or fleet yard.
