Professional. Mobile. Trusted.
The SCR injector sprays AdBlue into the hot exhaust stream, and it is the part most exposed to heat and to poor-quality fluid. When it crystallises or blocks, the ECU sees dosing that is not achieving the expected NOx reduction and starts a warning and countdown — even though the tank is full. Fitting a new injector without finding why the last one failed is the single most common repeat repair we get called out to fix, so we test fluid quality, dosing pressure, cooling and heater circuits and exhaust conditions as part of the same visit.
- Injector spray, flow and blockage assessment with live dosing data
- Decrystallisation where the injector is recoverable — replacement where it is not
- P20EE, P229F, P2BA9 and manufacturer-specific dosing-deviation codes
- Cooling and heater circuit testing to prevent repeat failure
- AdBlue fluid quality and contamination checks
- Cross-check against DPF and EGR conditions that skew exhaust temperature
- Mobile diagnostic visit from £150 — parts and repair quoted separately once diagnosed
- Repair and compliance focused — no emulators or bypasses on road vehicles
Signs of a blocked or crystallised injector
Crystallisation at the injector
The classic failure. Urea dries into a hard white deposit around the injector tip and mounting flange, blocking spray and letting exhaust gas back up the line.
Dosing quantity or dosing-deviation codes
P20EE, P229F, P2BA9 and manufacturer variants. The ECU can see that dosing is not achieving the expected NOx reduction — a blocked injector is one cause among several.
AdBlue warning shortly after a top-up
Fluid goes in, the level reads correctly, and the countdown continues because very little of it is actually reaching the catalyst.
Injector cooling or heater faults
Many SCR injectors are coolant-cooled or electrically heated. A cooling-circuit problem cooks the injector and it fails again quickly if the cause is not addressed.
Poor or contaminated AdBlue
Out-of-spec, old or contaminated fluid is a leading cause of injector blockage. We check fluid quality as part of diagnosis rather than fitting a part into the same conditions that killed the last one.
Repeat failure after replacement
If a second injector blocks, the problem is usually upstream — degraded fluid, a pressure fault, or exhaust temperatures that are wrong because of an unrelated DPF or EGR issue.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the symptoms of a faulty AdBlue injector?+
White crystallised deposits at the injector or its flange, AdBlue warnings and countdowns that continue after a top-up, dosing-quantity or dosing-deviation fault codes, and sometimes an exhaust smell near the SCR unit. Symptoms overlap heavily with pump, NOx sensor and fluid-quality faults, so live testing is the only way to confirm which.
Can an AdBlue injector be cleaned instead of replaced?+
Sometimes, yes — light crystallisation can often be cleared and the injector re-tested for spray pattern and flow. Heavy build-up, a seized needle or an electrically failed injector needs replacing. We test before deciding and tell you honestly which case you are in.
How much does AdBlue injector diagnosis and repair cost?+
The mobile diagnostic visit starts at the £150 minimum service charge and includes fault codes, live dosing data, spray and flow assessment and fluid-quality checks, plus a written finding. Parts and any repair labour are quoted separately once diagnosis is complete — injector prices differ widely between manufacturers, so we quote against your registration instead of publishing a guess. Nothing is ordered without your approval.
Why did my new AdBlue injector fail again?+
Almost always because the underlying cause was never found: contaminated or out-of-spec AdBlue, a cooling or heater circuit fault, incorrect dosing pressure from the pump side, or abnormal exhaust temperatures caused by a separate DPF or EGR problem. We look at all of those before signing a job off.
Will you delete or bypass the SCR system instead?+
No. Our AdBlue work is repair and diagnostics so the vehicle stays road-legal and MOT-compliant. We do not fit emulators or bypasses to road-going vehicles.
Do you come to me?+
Yes — fully mobile across Staines, Heathrow, Slough, Windsor, Hounslow, West London, Uxbridge, Woking, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Reading.
