Is EGR delete legal in the UK?+
EGR delete is legal for off-road, motorsport and export use only. A road-going vehicle with the EGR disabled is technically non-compliant and can fail the MOT visual/emissions check since 2018. We fit it on that basis and the work is fully reversible before MOT or dealer visit at no extra cost.
Will EGR delete fail my MOT?+
It can if the tester spots a missing/blanked EGR at the visual smoke check. We revert the ECU to factory for MOT day free of charge when you book both together — you keep the reliability gains and pass emissions.

For most modern engines a proper ECU-side delete is enough (no fault codes, no smoke). We recommend the stainless blanking plate on older BMW N47/N57, Mercedes OM642/OM651 and Range Rover TDV6 — it stops residual carbon reaching the inlet. We fit both on the same visit.
Will EGR delete damage my engine?+
No — it removes a known failure point. The EGR system recirculates hot, sooty exhaust gas back into the inlet, which is why diesel engines clog up. Deleting it makes the engine run cleaner internally, not dirtier.
Can EGR delete be reversed?+
Yes — we keep your original ECU file on record for 12 months and can restore it in one visit. Free reversal before MOT, dealer update or resale.
