MQB / MQB48 component protection
Group cars built from roughly 2013 onward (Golf 7 and 8, Polo 6, T-Roc, T-Cross, Tiguan 2, Passat B8, Arteon, Audi A3 8V/8Y, Q2, Q3, Skoda Octavia 3/4, Superb 3, Kodiaq, SEAT Leon 3/4, Ateca, Cupra Formentor) use component-protected keys. The key is married to the immobiliser data held across several modules, so it cannot simply be cloned — the correct authenticated procedure has to be used or the car ends up immobilised properly.
KESSY and proximity systems
Keyless entry and go adds a second layer: aerial rings, interior sensors and a comfort-access module that all have to see the new key. We test entry, start, boot release and comfort functions before leaving, not just that the engine cranks.
Older PQ25 / PQ35 / PQ46 immobilisers
Golf Mk4 to Mk6, Polo 9N/6R, Passat B6/B7, Octavia 2, Leon 1P, A3 8P, A4 B7/B8 and the T5 Transporter generation. Different equipment, different route, still handled on site.
All keys lost on a Group car
The job dealers most like to quote a recovery truck for. Where the platform allows it we generate a new key from the vehicle's own data, program it, and where supported remove the missing keys from the immobiliser so they can no longer start the car.
