Broken Key Stuck in Ignition? Don't Pull — Read This First

DIY key extraction usually pushes the snap deeper. Here's the proper extraction method and tooling.

A snapped key in the ignition or door lock is fixable — but the wrong approach pushes the broken half deeper and damages the wafers. Don't pull, pick or glue.

What NOT to do

Don't try to glue a matchstick or paper clip to the broken end. Don't probe with thin pins — you'll bend the wafers and end up replacing the whole lock barrel.

How a pro extracts it

Specialist broken-key extractor tools (LiShi, HU-style hooks) grip the broken blade between the wafers and slide it out cleanly. 5-minute job with the right kit.

Re-cutting on-site

Once extracted, we cut you a fresh key on-site from the key code — no need to tow the car or order parts.
