Audi's MQB platform (A3 8V, A4 B9, Q2, Q3, Q5, TT MK3 and on) uses component protection — every module is married to the car, including the immobiliser.
What changed in 2026
More MQB models now require an online security gate (FAZIT / SVM) for first-key-lost. That doesn't mean dealer-only — specialist auto locksmiths with online accounts can still do it.
OBD vs immobiliser bench work
Most spare keys go OBD in 30 minutes. All-keys-lost on newer MQB sometimes requires immobiliser bench reading — still mobile, just takes 2–3 hours.
Why dealers quote £550+
Dealer time + key blank markup + diagnostic charge. We do the same job mobile, on your driveway, for a fraction of the price.
