Three options sit in front of you when you need a second key. Option one is the main dealer. Premium-brand dealers will sell you a coded spare smart key for £400–£700 plus a labour charge to fit, with the car going to the workshop for half a day. The key itself is genuinely OEM but the price reflects the dealer's overhead, not the cost of the part. Option two is buying a fob from eBay or Amazon and finding 'someone local' to code it. The fob may or may not be a working blank — half of the cheap Chinese fobs sold online are unprogrammable rejects sold for scrap. Even when the fob is genuine, a back-bedroom locksmith without dealer-level tools often cannot pair it to modern smart-key cars and you end up paying twice.
